Liverpool are reportedly planning a summer move for Tottenham target Karim Benzema, after missing out on him in January.
The Merseysiders made a move for the French hotshot on deadline day, but Real Madrid were not prepared to let him leave due to their threadbare striking ranks.
Imscouting.com reported last week that Tottenham are considering a bid worth 30 million euros for Benzema and have held talks with his representatives, but Liverpool are 'likely' to reignite their interest.
The 23-year-old has struggled to make a lasting impression at the Bernabeu since his transfer from Lyon in 2009 and has consistently been linked with a move away from Madrid - namely to either Liverpool or Arsenal.
Liverpool have reportedly been tracking Benzema for a number of months and had even been urged to sign the France international by an Anfield alumni.
"Liverpool need a striker and they should look no further than Karim Benzema," wrote former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp in the Daily Mail.
"The new Liverpool owners have their first challenge: sign him."
