Konchesky deal close?

Fulham defender Paul Konchesky is expected to join Roy Hodgson at Anfield before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, according to FansFC.

Konchesky missed his sides opening game of the season against Bolton, with Mark Hughes insisting the player was not fit enough to participate.

However, former Fulham boss Hodgson is a keen admirer of the full-back and is looking to strengthen the Reds in that position.

Daniel Agger played at left-back for Liverpool against Arsenal on Sunday, but Hodgson wants a natural full-back to take that role and provide stern competition for the injury-prone Fabio Aurelio who also missed out on this weeks action.

Manchester City will not allow Craig Bellamy to sign for Liverpool or Spurs, as they see them as rivals in pursuit of a top-four spot.

Bellamy has been marginalised at City and is looking to leave the club immediately according to the Daily Mail, with a move to Championship side Cardiff thought to be on the cards.

Swedish striker Ola Toivonen could be on his way to Anfield after Roy Hodgson watched him play against Scotland last week. The PSV man can play in attacking midfield or as a forward and would provide good back-up for Fernando Torres.

The Daily Mail claims the 24 year-old would cost in the region of £5m, a fee much more affordable than the £15m Frenchman Loic Remy is valued at.
