Kenny Dalglish says he has the financial backing he needs from Liverpool's owners this summer to help ensure the club are well equipped for next season.
Fenway Sports Group have vowed to back the manager in the transfer market as the Reds look to build on the progress that has been made in recent months.
Director of football Damien Comolli and Dalglish are in the process of pinpointing targets and the Scot is delighted with the support they have been guaranteed by principal owner John Henry.
"The Oliver Twist story springs to mind - it doesn't matter what they give you, you always want more," Dalglish said.
"But certainly the owners just want the same as the football club.
"There's no figure on it and if there was we wouldn't publicise it but the desire and the intention is there.
"A good way to judge it is that they were disappointed we didn't get more players in January. Their intention was there but we just couldn't get the players.
"People may be cynical and say selling Ryan Babel and Fernando Torres almost balanced the books with Luis (Suarez) and Andy (Carroll) coming in. But Luis was coming in anyway before Fernando went.
"January is not the best time to go and buy anyway but we were lucky we got two fantastic buys.
"The summer is traditionally when people do their business and there's plenty of support from the owners. There's no need for anyone to have any reservations about them.
"Damien has done a fantastic job identifying players and whittling them down to a smaller number for us to assess and have a look at who we want. It's all in place ready to go."
Dalglish is keen to act fast in the transfer market and is only interested in stars of the "highest calibre".
"We have lots of ideas but there's nothing conclusive yet," he added. "We need to get our skates on to make sure we get the right players.
"The people we will be looking at will be of the highest calibre. If we get some work done in the summer to add to the good work the players here already have done since January, it will be a positive start to the season."
