Reds striker Milan Jovanovic says he expects to know by Tuesday whether he will be securing a move to Belgian side Anderlecht.
The 30-year-old, a free transfer from Standard Liege last summer, is surplus to requirements at Anfield, and has not featured in any of the club's pre-season fixtures.
Anderlecht are keen to take the Serbia international back to the Jupiler League, and Jovanovic says he will find out if the move will be completed early this week.
He told a Belgian newspaper: "On August 2 I will know whether or not I will move to Anderlecht.
"Then I have a meeting with the board. The interest is serious and the board really wants me.
"There is a big chance an agreement will be made."
Another player who could be on his way out of Anfield is midfielder Alberto Aquilani, after Fiorentina boss Sinisa Mihajlovic revealed that a deal to sign the Italian international had not been abandoned by the Serie A club.
Mihajlovic said: "Is the Aquilani deal up in smoke? From now until the end of the market there is still plenty of time, so let's not lose hope.
"The club, myself, and director of sport Pantaleo Corvino have clear ideas and we know exactly what to do."
Elsewhere, young winger Thomas Ince is expected to seal a season-long loan switch to Championship side Blackpool this week.
