Jones allowed to travel to Merseyside

Brad Jones has finally been given permission to travel to Anfield for talks with Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson.

Boro are understood to have settled on a £2.3m fee for the Australian international to move to Merseyside.

The 28-year-old arrived for training at Rockliffe Park today and was instructed he could now travel to Liverpool, where he is seen as a potential capable deputy for Spanish international Pepe Reina.

Ironically, a bad mistake by Reina cost Liverpool an opening day victory against Arsenal yesterday, when he spilled the ball into his own net in the final minute of a 1-1 draw.

However, Reina had earlier made a couple of crucial saves as the Reds defied the loss of new signing Joe Cole, who was sent-off on his debut.
