Jeffren Suarez has emerged as a summer transfer target for Liverpool, after they realised they may struggle to land Aston Villa's Ashley Young.
Reds manager Kenny Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli are keen to add a winger to their squad to provide the ammunition for £35 million striker Andy Carroll.
Their top target is Young, but the England international is also high on Manchester United's wish list.
Liverpool have begun to look at other targets and, according to the Sunday Mirror, one of them is Barcelona's Jeffren.
The 23-year-old has an £8.3 million buy-out clause in his contract and may jump at the chance to move on after struggling to establish himself in the Barca first team after coming through the Catalan club's famous youth system.
Liverpool are shaping up for a busy summer in the transfer market, with Newcastle United left-back Jose Enrique, Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago, Bolton Wanderers centre-back Gary Cahill and Wolves winger Matt Jarvis also said to be on their shopping list.
A number of players will leave Anfield, including Roy Hodgson signings Paul Konchesky and Christian Poulsen, who look set to move to Fulham and Udinese respectively.
