Liverpool have received a boost to their summer transfer efforts with news that Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas may have played his last game for the club, according to local daily Faro de Vigo.
Aspas has accrued many an admiring club both in Spain and abroad, with Liverpool the biggest name seeking a move for the forward.
Last week saw reports emerging of a £9 million deal having been sealed between Liverpool and Celta Vigo, which the Spanish club denied, adding that all offers were being considered.
The 25-year-old has racked up 12 goals in 33 games this season, his first with the club's senior squad - a display that earned him a £10m buyout clause.
The Spaniard could become an effective purchase at that value, given his scoring talents.
Aspas still has three years left on his contract, and will be hopeful of a team that can aim higher than the 17th place reached by Celta Vigo, who only narrowly avoided the drop.
Liverpool are joined in the interest for Aspas by English rivals Swansea and Reading, with Dynamo Kiev and Valencia also in the hat.
Aspas' family is believed to be supporters of the Anfield outfit, and the potential for a three-year deal that sees a decent salary hike is not a possibility that has been discounted.
