Liverpool have reportedly agreed terms to sign Celta Vgo forward Iago Aspas, according to Liverpool Echo.
The report claims the 25-year-old is subjected to a medical next week and will be joining the Merseyside club for a fee of £7.7m.
Celta were promoted to La Liga for the 2012-13 campaign and Aspas is the club's top scorer for his side with 12 goals and has six assists to his name.
Abel Resino will be banking on the Spaniard to strike against his side's crunch tie against Espanyol to avoid relegation as they sit 18 in the league table with 34 points, trailing Deportivo by a point.
Deportivo host Real Sociedad in the final game of the season and a win at home against Sociedad will confirm Celta's relegation. Should Resino's side fail to stay in the La Liga, Aspas asking price could go down to £6m.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has now acted quickly to land Aspas as his former club Swansea City and Celta's league rivals Valencia were also interested in his services.
The player's versatile style of play will strengthen the Reds squad as he can operate as a striker up front or on the wider position as a winger.
The Merseyside club's chairman Tom Werner has promised the Reds will bring in new players in the summer transfer window.
The former Swansea manager is looking to bring one or two players to strengthen Liverpool's attacking division. Aspas' asking price fits into Liverpool's transfer policy and his versatile style of play will bolster their squad.
