ForzaItalia: Reds step up pursuit

Liverpool are reportedly interested in Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler.

The Anfield club are short of defensive midfielders in light of Lucas Leiva's continual injury woes and see the Swiss international as an ideal candidate to supplement their squad for the remainder of the season.

Sports Direct News report that the English side's interest in Inler would be difficult to solidify as Napoli have blocked the possibility of the player's transfer.

Brendan Rodgers' side have also been rumoured to be interested in AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong.

Inler joined Napoli in 2011 from Udinese for around €13 million, and has since appeared 67 times in Serie A for the Azzurri.
