Liverpool and Everton are set for a surprise summer battle for QPR midfielder Stephane Mbia, according to reports from France Football.
The Cameroonian enforcer is currently away from Loftus Park on loan at Sevilla, where he has been relatively impressive.
His performances at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan appear to have alerted both Merseyside clubs, with reports indicating that they have contacted him ahead of the transfer window.
Even if the Super Hoops gain promotion - which the will have to do via the play-offs - from the Championship, they are said to be ready to axe the 27-year-old to get his earnings off of their expenditure.
Liverpool and Everton are both more able to afford his wage demands, and could offer him a Premier League lifeline.
The Reds are rumoured to be looking for a tough-tackling midfielder ahead of a season which will include Champions League action, and could use Mbia as cover for the likes of Steven Gerrard, Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson and Lucas.
Everton meanwhile are also in the market for a central player, with the future of on-loan ace Gareth Barry unclear.
