Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will lure Borussia Dortmund's coveted star Marco Reus to Anfield by making him the club's highest paid player of all time.
Reports claim Liverpool are intent on signing the German international, and will stop at nothing to fend-off interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Liverpool chiefs have given the green-light for Rodgers to offer Reus a contract in excess of £200,000 per-week wages - a considerable increase on his current £60,000 a-week deal.
The likelihood of Reus leaving Borussia Dortmund is growing daily, and Rodgers will be boosted by the news that Jurgen Klopp is pursuing Paris Saint-Germain star Javier Pastore as his replacement.
Manchester City looked to be in pole-position for Reus' signature having made an official enquiry only last week, but City's optimism may be short-lived now Liverpool have declared interest.
The German superstar is contracted until 2017, but a £20m buy-out clause is set to kick in during the summer of 2015, enabling those with financial muscle to poach him from under the noses of Dortmund chiefs.
Despite still recovering from an ankle ligament injury, Reus clearly has the potential to help Liverpool continue their quest to cement a regular place in the top-four.
He has played 96 matches for Borussia Dortmund and scored 43 goals, with a further 40 assists to boot.
