Defender set to join Rams

Liverpool central defender Daniel Ayala is expected to join Derby County today.

The Rams are set to take the 20-year-old on loan until the end of the season.

Ayala is on his way back from a hamstring injury and so tomorrow's home league game against Ipswich Town might come too soon for him.

Derby need a replacement for Dean Leacock who serves a two-match suspension after he collected his 10th booking of the season in the defeat by Nottingham Forest.

Russell Anderson is out with a calf problem and Jake Buxton has yet to feature for the first team this season due to injuries.

Ayala was on loan at Hull City earlier this season and made a dozen appearances.
