West Ham defender Winston Reid has reportedly emerged as a surprise transfer target for Liverpool in January.

The Hammers centre-back has impressed for Sam Allardyce's side so far this season, making eight appearances, while he also scored against the Reds in the 3-1 win last month.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was linked with a bid for the New Zealand international in the summer but the latest claims are that Liverpool are leading the chase for his signature when the window reopens in the new year.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers could be on the lookout for reinforcements in January with Reid, who could cost as much as £15million, apparently on his radar.
