Liverpool are set to join the race to sign Udinese's Colombian striker Luis Muriel, according to reports in Italy.
The 23-year-old arrived at the Italian Serie A outfit as a 19-year-old from Deportivo Cali in his homeland in 2010 and was loaned out to Spanish side Granada to gain some first-team experience in European football.
Muriel was thrust into the Udinese side in 2012 and provided an assist on his debut against Fiorentina, while his pace and eye for goal resulted in him sharing the Serie A Young Footballer of the Year award with AC Milan's Stephan El Shaarawy that first season.
Muriel's form since has alerted a number of top clubs such as Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina and Lazio, while Tutto Mercato is now reporting that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is also pondering a raid when the summer transfer window opens for business.
The player is contracted to Udinese until summer 2018 so the club could well try and create an auction for his signature in order to get the best possible deal if they do decide to sell.
