Liverpool are said to be on the trail of Shakhtar Donetsk's Henrikh Mkhitaryan despite their valuation of around £22m.
The Armenia international player of the year has been outstanding in the midfield this past season and netted 25 goals in the Ukraine but, following their failure to qualify for the Champions League, he has indicated he wants to leave for a European powerhouse.
In spite of the fact that the Reds are not in European competition next season they are still considered to be one of the bigger clubs and the 24-year-old would apparently consider a move.
Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City have all been linked.
