Liverpool have reportedly made a move for Real Madrid's Asier Illarramendi ahead of a potential summer deal.

The midfielder seems set to leave the Bernabeu this summer after failing to secure regular first-team football and reports claim Liverpool have made a move.

The Spaniard is seemingly keen on a move to the Premier League and Liverpool hope to move quickly to secure a deal, with Arsenal also understood to be watching his situation closely.

It is thought Illarremendi will cost around £23million and at this stage it would seem as if the Reds are leading the race for the 25-year-old's signature as boss Brendan Rodgers looks for midfield reinforcements with captain Steven Gerrard set to leave for LA Galaxy.
