Liverpool may have to find more than the reported £26m for target Willian if they are to land him ahead of Tottenham.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers had looked favourite to land the Brazilian winger with some suggestions that a fee and a deal had been agreed for the 25-year-old.

The latest reports from Russia suggest Spurs may have jumped to the head of the queue by making a £30m offer to Anzhi Makhachkala for his services.

The cost-cutting Russian club will be guided by price and the winger is likely to leave right on the deadline to ensure they get the best deal possible, but whether it is for Liverpool or Spurs - or a different interested party - remains to be seen.
