Liverpool look to be a step closer to landing Ashley Cole after he revealed he would be leaving Chelsea in the summer.
The 33-year-old left-back is coming to the end of his contract at Chelsea and is unlikely to get another one which suits him so he is ready to move on with a host of clubs across the globe said to be interested.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has added Liverpool's name to that list as he looks to add quality to his squad for the Champions League battle ahead and defence is an area he needs to strengthen.
Cole confirmed his exit on Twitter: "I am weighing up my options for playing next season with my agent and sadly it does not look like Chelsea will be one of them."
