Liverpool look set to make a bid for Real Madrid goalkeeper and Arsenal target Iker Casillas this January as they eye an alternative to Victor Valdes, according to the Metro.
The experienced Spanish international has been linked several times with a move away from the Bernabeu in recent months, with some fans calling for him to be dropped after a poor run of form.
Although Carlo Ancelotti has been quoted as saying that the club would not be looking to offload the 33-year-old anytime soon, Liverpool remain keen on competing for his signature this season.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring in competition for current number one Simon Mignolet. Former Barcelona shot-stopper Victor Valdes had also emerged as a top target for the Merseysiders.
Casillas's potential availability now seems to have alerted Liverpool and he may now be their top target to come in in goal this term.
