West Ham United are set to hold contract talks with defender Winston Reid as they look to end the growing interest in their player from a host of clubs including Premier League rivals Liverpool, Everton and Manchester United, the Daily Mail reports.
The New Zealand international captain has been an incredibly consistent performer for the Hammers and was the club's player of the year in 2013.
Unfortunately, the centre-back's contract expires at the end of the season meaning he can leave for free next summer.
The Hammers hierarchy fear that they could see one of their star players walk away for nothing or be forced into selling him for a cut-price amount in January if he refuses to sign a new deal.
In order to stop this happening, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce will offer him wages that will put him among the highest earners at the club.
However, the 26-year-old's representatives are still waiting to see what other clubs will offer him and with sides like Manchester United and Liverpool around, there is a possibility that West Ham won't be able to match what the bigger teams offer.
