A MERSEYSIDE derby with a difference will take place to mark Jamie Carragher's testimonial.
The Liverpool defender has announced details of the match between a Liverpool XI and an Everton XI to be held at Anfield on Saturday, September 4.
Although this falls during an international break, players not involved with their countries will play.
In what promises to be a fitting tribute to the Liverpool stalwart, a host of the Anfield club's former players have already agreed to take part, including Michael Owen, Danny Murphy, Craig Bellamy, Dietmar Hamann, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Jamie Redknapp and Gary McAllister.
All monies raised will go to local charities.
Carragher said: "Hopefully it should be a great occasion, one that the Merseyside public get behind.
"Every single penny that gets raised will be going to charity and it would nice to see the stadium full of families because that is what the day is going to be about. It's a huge honour to play for Liverpool and I just want to try and give something back."
Carragher was a boyhood Evertonian before switching allegiance to Liverpool once he broke into the first team at Anfield.
He is delighted Everton have taken up his invitation and praised Goodison manager David Moyes for his role.
"Everton and David Moyes have been brilliant from the very start," said Carragher.
