Bolton want to tie up a £3million deal for Liverpool striker David Ngog after calling time on moves for Daniel Sturridge and Jeffren.
And after being offered Frenchman David Ngog for £6m last summer, Owen Coyle feels they can get him for half that price.
Bolton had a £5m offer for Barcelona forward Jeffren accepted two weeks ago but never had contract talks with the Spain U21 international. Coyle also accepts he is unlikely to tempt Chelsea's Sturridge back to the Reebok after last season's loan spell.
Coyle is close to wrapping up a £3m double deal for Burnley duo Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears. And he has also offered ex-Aston Villa midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker a three-year deal.
Ian Rush, meanwhile, believes Liverpool's Copa America hero Luis Suarez can forge a prolific partnership with Andy Carroll. Suarez scored as Uruguay beat Paraguay 3-0 in the final and Rush said: "If they can gel, which they should be able to, then the partnership between Carroll and Suarez could be a really big thing.
"It doesn't matter that they are from different backgrounds.
"Kenny Dalglish and I didn't speak much off the pitch. I talk to him far more now than I ever did when we were playing together. We just fitted in because we had different skills."
