Former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is set for a return to management with Atletico Madrid.
The Spaniard took Liverpool to two Champions League finals during his six years at the club, winning one of them, and was responsible for signing stars like Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso.
Current Atletico boss Quique Sanchez Flores is out of contract at the end of the season and has not been offered a new deal by the La Liga side leaving the door open for Benitez to make his return to management, according to Spanish paper AS.
The 50-year-old was sacked by Inter Milan in January after just eight months in charge and has been out of a job since.
One of the first tasks Benitez will be faced with will be trying to keep 20-year-old goalkeeper David de Gea at the club with Manchester United showing a keen interest in the youngster.
Atletico are currently sixth in La Liga, 39 points behind leaders Barcelona.
