David Ngog believes he has toughened up to life in the Premier League – as Albert Riera prepared to exit Anfield.
Riera has confirmed he hopes to join a Russian club this week as his Liverpool FC career draws to a close.
The 27-year-old former Espanyol and Manchester City player has been linked with Moscow clubs Spartak and CSKA, although the latter have denied interest.
Riera said: "I suppose that Russia is a very interesting offer because it's the only prestigious league at the moment whose transfer window is open still.
"Moreover, if I play in Russia constantly I hope to be called to the national team for the World Cup in South Africa.
"I hope that all the things concerning my move to Russia will be decided during this week."
Meanwhile, Ngog reckons he has come to terms with the physical nature of English football.
The 20-year-old has made 13 starts and 15 substitute appearances this season, scoring seven goals including a famous strike in the 2-0 win over Manchester United.
And he said: "No game in the Premier League is ever simple, but especially away from home.
"A lot of the teams are very physical and make you fight for everything.
"You have to be strong and really battle to get possession and keep it until your team-mates can get forward in support. It wasn't something I found easy at first.
"Now I think I am getting stronger in those situations. The more experience you have of playing like that the more confident you become.
"I think I'm becoming a better player and know I need to do that. If I can I will be happy.
"I've managed to score some goals which is pleasing. But that's what people expect of strikers, it's our job. Hopefully I can get more in the future."
The return of Torres has restricted Ngog to three substitute appearances since starting the 3-1 Europa League victory at Unirea Urziceni on February 25.
But the French striker added: "It's great to have Fernando back in the team again.
"He obviously helps us all to play better because he is so good.
"Also, for a young striker like me it's great to have someone like that here.
"He's one of the best in the world. All I can do is be ready and take an opportunity to play when I get it."
