Liverpool raced into a three goal lead against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League at Anfield tonight after just 27 minutes with Heskey, Cheyrou and Hyypia all finding the net in the first half.

After losing their opening clash of this European campaign against Valencia and being held at home by FC Basel, Liverpool needed to pull it out of the bag tonight.

Within six minutes Liverpool had made their intentions perfectly clear. Emile Heskey opened the scoring by slotting the ball under the 'keeper after racing Michael Owen to a Riise pass.

Eight minutes later, Bruno Cheyrou slotted home an easy chance after great work from Danny Murphy.

Then, on 27 minutes, club captain Sami Hyypia headed home a fantastic free-kick from Murphy again.
