Robert Blanthorne's two league appearances for Liverpool came at the end of the 1906-07 season in consecutive home matches against Bristol City on 13th April and Middlesbrough on 17th April.

Blanthorne looked forward to a career with Newcastle, but sadly broke his leg in the opening game of the 1908-09 season and failed to recapture the form that had persuaded the Magpies to sign him.
