Glasgow born James Cameron made four appearances for Liverpool's first-team during the 1894-95 First Division campaign.

It was a disappointing season which saw the club relegated immediately back to the Second Division just a year after they had achieved promotion at the first time of asking, when entering the Football League in 1893.

He made his debut against Sheffield United in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
